precious memories

Memories are for safe keeping, at least for a bit
Until we find a box where it would fit
In our heart and soul it will reside
Images so real, he's almost beside

These precious moments are not to share
Not even to close friends, we wouldn't dare
For fear it might erode too quickly
Before we can deal with it effectively

Why deal with it, if it brought so much joy?
Simply because such memories are not like a toy
To replay to pass time or just for fun
And chuck it aside when we all entertained and done

Precious because it's picked for the keeping
And take it out we will, when we are weeping
So that it will give us some laughter and remove the tear
And give us the courage in the angry waves of fear

Memories are mine and the only thing that I don't openly share
It's too important and it's because I care
